October 2008; Gateway Plastics Inc, a premier molder of injection molded packaging components, is proud to announce 2008 Packaging Expo show awards for customer packaging.
Continental Packaging Solutions and General Mills put together a new package using stock closures and containers. For their efforts, they were awarded a Gold medal in the Food and Beverage Category by the National Association of Container Distributors for the new Cheerios Tot Pack. This new package for on-the-go families uses a Gateway Plastics stock, dual door 63mm closure offering two convenient dispensing options. Kids can flip a door and dispense Cheerios one at a time through a single triangular hole, or pour several out at a time via a large half-moon opening.
Nestle Purina, Canada and Gateway Plastics won a Product Family Honorable Mention from the In-Mold Decorating Association for the new in-mold labeled Maxx Scoop Litter Pail.
Steering away from thermal transfer or sleeve decorating methods, Gateway Plastics created an in-mold label solution that allowed for the best possible reproduction of colors and photographic images with minimal defects. Beyond image quality, Gateway created a unique container design and implemented proprietary processing techniques to create a robust solution that reduced product handling, scrap and inventory exposure.
Since 1970, Gateway Plastics has created innovative solutions that redefine what is possible with packaging. With an in-house design department, they not only develop intriguing ideas but also take them from rough sketch to finished package. Their injection molding facility is one of the most modern and comprehensive in the industry, and are 100% committed to making the customers product successful through packaging that inspires, makes sense, and works on all counts.
